“Sharpshooters Closing on the Herd is, in a way, a play on words, since the warrior has a Sharps .50 caliber buffalo rifle in his hands,” says artist Howard Terpning. “This was a very powerful rifle and highly prized by the buffalo people. It’s getting late in the day and they may have been following this herd for many miles. If one buffalo sensed danger and started to run, the whole herd would run, so caution was very important. The Blackfoot hunters are downwind of the buffalo herd and are judging the distance from their prey in hopes that they can get off a shot before they are spotted by the herd.

Tento lehký oděv se o nahé tělo umí dokonale postarat.
Příznivý dojem z těla tohoto indiána umí příjemně vylepšit.
Tyto dvě věty jsou předním labelem mých myšlenek pokaždé, když se na tento obrázek podívám. Snad je to v té pozici jeho těla, nebo jak je přední flap bederky poskládaný na tanga-části, možná si mé podvědomí našlo něco zajímavého v profilu jeho tváře, v klidné energii ukryté v jeho těle, v kouzelném prostředí panamského pralesa, nebo snad všechno tohle dohromady... Podle mého názoru by mu jakýkoliv jiný oděv slušel mnohem méně. Dokonce ani ta plná nahota by zde nebyla mým favoritem. Takhle je to perfektní. Příroda mu dala téměř dokonalé tělo a on se té dokonalosti bederkou dotýká. Lidské vyladění díla Bohů, skvělá spolupráce.

Tyto tři fotografie ’awa rel 2338-2340 (práce dvou fotografů) si jsou velmi podobné. Původně jsem chtěl pro ’awa rel vybrat jen jednu z nich. Nakonec jsem se rozhodl, že se rozhodnout nedokážu = všechny tři fotografie jsou perfektní. Pokud bych si měl představit indiánského krále v pouhé bederce (+ pár ozdob), tak bych měl hned několik představ. Jedna z nich by určitě vypadala takto.
